HS Government Class Project

Mr. Frieling’s government students were learning different styles of governments and their economic systems by building towers out of marshmallows and toothpicks. Each group had to follow a different set of rules depending on their government and economic system. Some found it difficult to trade for adequate supplies, while others were free to bargain as desired. Students learned that while they may become rich in democratic countries with capitalistic economies, there is no guarantee and some may go bankrupt and homeless.  Also, in communist countries with command economies, nobody will go bankrupt but nobody will thrive either.  Those in monarchies and oligarchies fell somewhere in-between the extremes.
