Updated COVID-19 Safe to Return Plan

Dear USD 429 Parents and Guardians:

As many of you are aware, there have been many changes issued by national, state, and local health organizations over the past few weeks regarding contact tracing and quarantine for Covid -19.  The USD 429 Board of Education met last night and approved to follow the recent guidance and recommendations issued on January 17th by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and the Kansas Department of Education to temporarily suspend contact tracing in our schools.  This will take effect today, January 20, 2022 and it will be revisited when new recommendations come from KDHE and KSDE.  If a student or staff member is positive, they are still required to home quarantine for five days, can return to school on day 6 if fever free and asymptomatic for normal school attendance and activities, but will be required to wear a mask.  If a student is exposed at home, they will have the option to quarantine at home for five days from exposure or they can Test to Stay and attend school wearing a mask. Please reach out to the building administration if you need to discuss those options.

If your child is symptomatic or tests positive for covid, please keep them home to help us prevent any spread.

Thank you.
