Trojan Girls Basketball attend Hiawatha Tournament

The Lady Trojans came out strong in their opening game of the Hiawatha Tournament, facing a tough challenge against 3A St. Mary’s. While both teams focused on defense, the Trojans faced a bit of a struggle from beyond the arc, unable to find consistency from the three-point line. But they kept their heads up, working the ball around and hitting some key mid-range jumpers to keep the game close. The Trojans were led by junior Harper Whetstine, who had an 19 points in the victory. More importantly, Harper hit a major career milestone, scoring her 1,000th point as a Lady Trojan. The Lady Trojans showed their resilience in a tight contest and are now looking forward to the rest of the tournament with momentum on their side. At the end of the tournament Harper Whetstine and Allie Franken were given awards for their Exemplary Perfromance during the tournament. 


Lady Trojans Triumph Over Hiawatha 44-33, Finish 2-1 in Round Robin

In an exciting finish to the Hiawatha Round Robin, the high school girls basketball team secured a 44-33 victory over Hiawatha, concluding the tournament with a 2-1 record. The Lady Trojans struggle to get their offense going, but were able to bounce back from their first loss of the season against Lafayette on Thursday. The game started off with Hiawatha
taking the lead. However, the Lady Trojans’ defense quickly became a key factor. With some impressive steals and fast breaks, the Trojans managed to create separation from Hiawatha and got back with in 2 at halftime. The second half saw Hiawatha fight back, but the Lady Trojans held their ground. Junior Harper Whetstine finished with 31 and helped maintain the lead, while clutch free throws in the final minutes sealed the win. The 44-33 victory capped off a successful tournament for the Lady Trojans, who finished 2-1 in the
Hiawatha Round Robin. The team demonstrated growth throughout the event, and coach and players alike are optimistic about the momentum they’ve built heading into the next phase of the season.
